The error code, U1000, on a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer might mean that there is a communication problem with the ECM. ECM stands for Engine Control Module. Sometimes when it rains and the engine gets wet, this light will come on to tell the driver there might be a wire that got wet going to an electronic part. It will also indicate a short of some kind in the wiring so it is best to check all wire connections.
On the drivers side dash close to the front windshield and on the RPO code sticker inside the glove box. www.trailvoy.com All the answers for your Trailblazer from true enthusiasts.
You must first get the code read and find out what made it come on. Then the code can be errased at the same time with the code reader. If the code was an anomalie then the light will go out after 3 or 4 drive cycles.
I am sorry but you do not without the proper equipment.
For the 2003 MY, the 4L60E was the only transmission available. The 4L70E was only available on 2006 - 2009 models with the LS2 6.0 V8. It's not going to be found in the VIN.. what you'd be looking for would be the RPO codes. Typically, they're located on a sticker affixed to the glove compartment door, although they are sometimes located elsewhere. It'll be a series of three digit codes... "M30" indicates you have a 4L60E, "M32" indicates you have a 4L60E HD (IIRC, not available on the TrailBlazer).
If you don't have a code reader you can disconnect the battery cable for a couple of minutes and that will reset the light
