In many European constitutional monarchies the crown is a symbol of state power, and exists but is not actually worn by the monarch. In the UK however, the monarch does wear the crown at certain state occasions such as the opening of parliament and royal weddings.

well what did kings wear... back then they would wear crazy looking things and to the other people they tought that ohh if i can't get what they have then they would think that him and their family was poor.

If you're looking for the name of a piece of headgear that's kind of like a crown, but is called something different, how about "coronet" (which just means "small crown") or "tiara" (more associated with princesses).

Crowns, but sometimes the queen will wear a tiara, mostly though if the king is seen as much higher, or important
