Hearts: a hollow muscular organ of vertebrate animals that by its rhythmic contraction acts as a force pump maintaining the circulation of the blood

  • Sperm receptacles: On segments 9 and 10 there are two minuscule sacs where, during earthworm sex, sperm are deposited.
  • Ovary: where eggs are laid and stored until the mature.
  • Oviduct: The tube through which an ovum or egg passes from an ovary.
  • Sperm duct: Carries sperm from the testis to the urethra.

pairs of bristles: spaced tufts of bright white bristles located along the worms sides. These tufts are very easily seen, but more to the point, they are also detectable by tactile means.

coelom: the space within the body wall.

excretory organ: an organ that separates waste substances from the blood and discharges them.
