When fish go torpid, they stop feeding and slow body processes (almost like a kind of hibernation). They don't move much (or at all) and basically rest until the water warms up. This only happens when water temperatures reach near the freezing point. Most temperatures just above freezing, they will continue to feed on a limited and much less frequent basis, but still limit their movements.

∙ 11y agoTumours would look like a growth sticking out of the body that is abnormal. Unless you have a fish that grows wen, such as an oranda (wen is that strange brain looking stuff that grows on their heads) then it's possible your fish has a tumour; unfortunately, there is no absolute cure as even if taken to a vet that specializes in fish and the tumour is removed, it typically grows back again.
