a wheel spins on an axis like a planet. the axis of a wheel for example is normally located where the hub is. the hub lies in the center of the wheel and connects the wheel to the vehicle its attached to. for the wheel to spin and run true, the axis has to be aligned exactly so the wheel doesn't flail around so what the wheel does spin on is very important.

In a car or motor bike engine the petrol which is ignited inside the cylinders causes forces which drive the crankshaft round due to those cylinders all being connected to the crankshaft.. Now an important part of the crankshaft is a heavy wheel in the centre of the crankshaft, which has a lot of kinetic energy (the energy of a moving body) stored in it. This helps the engine to revolve smoothly without any jitters if one of the plugs is not sparking correctly. In general it "smooths out" the engine performance.

The larger wheel turns a smaller wheel very quickly. The spindle at the center of the smaller wheel is fed a tuft of the material being spun, which is caught on the spindle, and twisted. Aditional bits of material are fed to the end of the twisted yarn, making it longer, and they in turn are twisted together. Gradually the mass of fluffy material is spun out into a long thread, suitable for weaving into cloth.

Same way as wheels and axles always work. In the wheels the wheels turn around the axles, in the crank the axle spin.

What is meant by the rotation of planets?

It means they spin. They turn in space, pivoting around an invisible axis that runs from pole to pole through each planet. Different planets spin at different speeds, and their spins are not perfectly aligned with their orbits (revolution) around the Sun. The spin or rotation of the Earth is what makes the Sun appear to move across the sky.

What is the difference of orbit and spin?

An orbit is where something spins and goes in a circle, a spin is just a spin....

How gyroscopic couple work in a aroplanes and ship?

Effect of the Gyroscopic Couple on an ship and Aeroplane :-Ships and aeroplanes consist of large moment of inertia propeller and fly wheels. When aeroplane or ship takes right or left turn there occurs a rate of change of angular momentum because of change of direction of angular momentum vector. Thus a counter couple is produced when they terns. When the engine or propeller of aeroplane or fly wheel of ship rotate such that the spin angular momentum vector is along the sailing direction and when the aeroplane or ship takes a left turn, then the effect of reactive gyroscopic couple will be to dip the nose (stem: for ship) and raise the tail of the aeroplane or ship. When the aeroplane or ship takes a right turn under similar conditions above, the effect of reactive gyroscopic couple will be to raise the nose and dip the tail of the aeroplane or ship.In the case of ships the fly wheel must be mounded such that the spin axis is along the length so as to maintain dynamic stability.
