lysosomes use chemicals to break down food molecules into energy. i recntly studied the animal cell. imagine it like a factory the lysosome is the maintenance crew. The lysosome is responsible for breaking down and absorbing materials taken in by the cell. Oragnelles like lysosomes are found in nearly every animal-like cell. lysosomes hold enzymes (proteins) that were created by the cell. the purpose of the lysomes is to digest things. They might be used to digest food or break down the cell when it dies
