It looks like tiny worms. It's long like fish poop. You usually find it in the food dish or in the water dish as they keep it in their shells and only clean it out on occasion.
I fully agree with that statement besides the fact of them keeping it in their shells. Every once in a while one of my little hermies will leave a little pooper behind while enjoying its recreation time outside of the cage.

Can a water hermit crab live on land?
No. They need constant humidity and warm moist soil. It might be possible for some to survive down towards the border, but I doubt it. Their is no stable conditions for them to survive. That's why you will find them in places like Florida, or the caribean.
