By definition you don't see anything when you are blind (or at least not completely blind; many people have limited vision). The question is like asking "what do you hear when you are deaf?" The answer is nothing.
From what I have heard, when you are blind, there is absolutely nothing. No darkness, or blackness. There is no sense of sight. It is difficult for us to imagine what it is like since people who are not blind have been seeing colors their whole life. Even I can't imagine how there is just nothing.
Although, maybe it could be that they do see darkness, but the blind people don't understand it, probably because they have never seen them.
You are basically eliminating a sense I guess. We could probably imagine what it is like not to hear, but do you think you could imagine (besides sight) what it's like to not be able to feel, smell, or taste too? Just something to think about...
I may be incorrect, but this is what I think.
Another answer:
Actually, under current definitions, the vast majority of people who are blind have the ability to distinguish light and dark (to some extent) and can visualize outlines of large objects. The medical definition of blind is not actually "100% blind", and very few people who have the diagnosis of blind are completely 100% blind. (It is because of this that some Faith Healers can make the claim that they "make blind people see". A common technique to "prove" this is by performing some sort of healing ritual, and then asking the blind person to follow them around the stage. This is normally possible for the blind person anyway, due to them still having an ability to distinguish large shapes and movement of large shapes).
It is stated that vision problems can develop before a baby is born. When a person is blind the only thing that they see is blackness, but some people that are semi blind can see things that are very blurry.
Being Blind Probably is like Having your eyes shut but Your eyes are open when your blind. Im not shure Im Not BLIND
The inside of your eyelid.

Different people with different types of blindness can see different things. There is actually only a relatively small amount of people who are completely blind and see nothing.
