What does it mean if your period is a week late and you're having a brown discharge?

This is old blood and most likely is caused by left over blood from your period which has been released. Or it can be caused by infection. Pregnancy has been ruled out because you got a normal period.

∙ 15y agoIt could be implantation leeding. The reason why it is brown is because there's very little blood and by the time it comes out it becomes brown like on any cuts etc. It could also be be birth control related. If you are on the pill and have missed pills and/or doubled up to catch up on pills you can get brown discharge which is the blood just that it's been stored in you long so it comes out brown.

this is the exact same thing that happend to me.. women start there periods at different times, everyone is diffrent. this is completely normal my mother didnt start her period until she was 16. so it just all depends on youre body. try asking youre mom or grandmother when she started her period and it might give you an idea about when you might. but until then be GLAD you havnt starte lol.. be patient it takes time sweetheart. hope i could help!
