For example, perhaps the day of your dream was the anniversry of some event that you shared with his family last year. Or you might have seen a car (on the street or in the media) that resembled that family's car, or heard some sort of music that reminded you of them. You need not have been aware of this memory trigger with your conscious mind for it to appear in your dream.
