Unfortunately , your battery is not being charged properly It could be an alternator or voltage regulator problem , a broken or disconnected wire , there might be a fuse for the alternator that has blown ( before the serpentine belt , when multiple belts were used , it could be a broken belt ) if the light came on when the engine was running You would need to have the charging system tested to determine the problem
