Your Guinea Pig may have an eye infection. Set up a vet appointment. They will give you and ointment that you will put between his or her eyelids. Until the vet appointment I suggest taking a paper towel and putting warm to hot water on the paper towel. Then you need to dab the paper town on the guinea pigs eye. The pig will naturally close his eye while you do this. You might see green ooze come out of the corner of his or her eye. If you do see this than patting the paper town in the same matter in which you did to make the ooze come out. Although doing this will make your guinea pig's eye look better. You still need to take him or her to the vet. Reason being that even with the medicine the eye infection might come back. Without medicine you wont be able to get rid of the infection. I had this same problem and the medicine only costed me a total of $25 dollars and that's with a vet visit and the medicine. Use the medicine until it is completely gone.
After the infection is gone make sure your pig is getting vitamin C which could have been the problem in the first place. Athough for me it was not a vitamin C problem. My pig was sick from the time I got him. The eye infections kept coming back. The infection might be a sign of other problems but most of the time its just a lack of vitamin C.
I hope this helps anyone out there who is having this problem. I remember when this happened to my pig and I was frantic. Hope all is well with your pig!
it's common for guinea pigs to die with their eyes open, it means nothing
No they can not. Why do you ask? If it does it probably is not dead. Are you asking this question because your's died if so sorry.
Answeryes... mine does at least.AnswerYes they do. They also sleep with their eyes open sometimes. If you watch them when they sleep you can see them dreaming, as like us, they have rapid eye movement, and occasionally they'll twitch. It's really cute :o)
Usually, because they don't have eyelids. But it's possible for them not to.
The baby is a lethal guinea pig, this means that it has either dalmation or roan parents. The baby is no where near to opening that eye. Take it to the vet and see what is wrong with it. If it is a lethal guinea pig, it most likely won't live for long the eyes of a guinea pig should be open at birth, you may need to take him to the vet to have him checked if they are not open after a day or so
just to let you know guinea pigs sleep with their eyes open for danger it is in their blood don't worry
You mean how long until they open their eyes? If so, they open their eyes around 2 weeks after they're born.
usually when a guinea pig dies its eyes are open, but if it died sleeping then its eyes should be closed.
its in shock

They open there eyes once born . Good luck
yes they do well mine does and they close their eyes if they are tired -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really? It's physically impossible for a guinea pig to do this.
no this is not true.. i am a vet tech and most of the time when we put animals to sleep or they pass away their eyes are mostly if not always open
yes
No, guinea pigs are born with fur, and their eyes open
Guinea pigs are born with fur, eyes open and teeth.
no. they shut theyre eyes when they go to sleep.
No! Really, no! It is a guinea pigs natural instinct to sleep with it's eyes open because in the wild they had to watch for predators and always be alert. A guinea pig will only sleep with his/her eyes closed if they are extremely content or they feel safe.
they are born with their eyes open, fur, and they can walk around.
