This could mean that a person has 'Sleep Apnea'. There are 2 types of Apnea: 1. The airway is obstructed. 2. Or, a person just stops breathing with no obstruction and is usually overweight. If a doctor suspects Sleep Apnea, they will refer the person to a sleep specialist.

This is something called "sleep apnea", which means you stop breathing periodically on and off during sleep. There are 2 types of sleep apnea one being Obstructive sleep apnea (where your throat muscles relax) and the second is Central sleep apnea (your brain sends messages to your muscles in the throat, this type that fails to happen cause you to stop breathing.)

When you stop breathing during your sleep then you have definitely be moving and wake up as if you have been choked up. This kind of problems will be because of the block air passage and need air pressure to open it up again. Your most common diagnosis will be sleep apnea.

The dreamer could be experiencing sleep apnea, a physical condition in which the natural rhythm of breathing is interrupted during sleep. The dream would be the mind's way of alerting the dreamer of the body's distress. Sleep apnea is often associated with snoring. See attached link for further information.

.... Alternatively, the inability to breathe in the dream could be a metaphor for one's feeling stifled, or smothered in some sense in real life. For example, perhaps one has no outlet for creative expression.

False. If we stopped breathing when we sleep, we would die. The respiratory rate tends to be faster but more shallow during sleep. It should not stop.
