Nightmares result from fears and worries that are transformed into scary images by your subconscious mind. Dreams communicate through pictures rather than words, so things like mean teachers or difficult exams appear as threatening monsters or other dream terrors. When you figure out what the nightmare represents, such as a term paper or a job interview, the dream will usually stop recurring.

There's no specific answer to that. But I'll give you some reasons:

~You're stressed or worried about something -If you're stressed or worried about a particular thing, it can kind of haunt you in your sleep, especially if it's eating you up. It makes you restless or depressed, so your mind fills your head with images. They might not relate to the root of the problem, but it can be a way of releasing the stress if you're not doing anything about it yourself.

~You live in fear of something -I hope this isn't the answer to your question, because the mere thought of it is horrible. But fear is usually why people have nightmares. If everyday you go through fear, you're bound to be scared and nightmares can be a cause of it. Images or short clips of what you fear might be seen in your nightmares.

~It could also just be a one off thing -I also went through a lot of nightmares, it wasn't the best phase in my life. But they seemed to disappear after a while.

~It might just also be the way your mind works -it displays pictures of things? It's a bit superstitious believing that you're seeing something that is happening or could potentially happen, but it might be the case?

~You see things that you don't particularly like -so you see them as nightmares when you sleep. It's the same process when you watch a scary movie and have a bad dream about it.

If you can sort out the problem that's causing you to have nightmares, then it's best that you do so, because being covered with sweat, waking up abruptly, tossing and turning or breathing heavily or even just living with the memory of a bad dream isn't the best thing to face everyday.

they mean that your mind is creating scary metaphors that represent the things that frighten you in real life. By fighting monsters and escaping disaster in your imaginative dreams, your mind learns that some solutions work better than others. Lots of emotional tension and stress is released through nightmares so that you can be more calm and rational in reality. See the link below for more examples of nightmares and how they protect your physical and emotional health.

Dreams express the dreamer's thoughts and feelings, and nightmares dramatize the dreamer's fears and anxieties with exaggerated symbols. For instance, a nightmare about thousands of insects could represent the dreamer's worries about "endless" little problems, and a nightmare of a ghost that grabs onto the dreamer and won't let go could be a metaphor for a feeling of guilt that the dreamer can't get rid of.

> Dreams and nightmares can also use puns and word play. For example, the dreamer might have a teacher named Mr. Booker in real life who assigns too much homework. A nightmare of being attacked by hundreds of flying books would be a pun on that teacher's name.

> Having nightmares every night suggests that the dreamer feels overwhelmed by fears or anxiety. Resolving problems in real life or finding a way to accept and live with the situation will help to relieve the nightmares.

Nothing, dreams don't usually mean anything unless they are trying to tell you something like go to the bathroom, etc.
