For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.
One Point of View
The Bible indicates that DEATH was caused by the sin of Adam back in the garden of Eden (Romans 5:12)(1 Corinthians 15:26) and is basically the opposite of life(Deuteronomy 30:15, 19) so according to the Bible, there is no consciousness after death. (Ecclesiastes 9:5&10),(Psalms 104:29). Jesus likened it to 'sleep' at John 11:11-14 (Psalm 13:3). When we're asleep, we know nothing. We're unconscious. In death we go 'back to the dust' and cease to exist.(Psalms 146:3&4) (Ecclesiastes 3:19) The purpose of death is not to let us live happily in another world, it's a consequence of sin, and proof that we need something beyond ourselves to live.
God sent Jesus to 'buy us back'(1 Timothy 2:5&6)(John 1:29), and to equal Adam, replacing him as our 'father' (1 Corinthians 15:45-47)(1 Timothy 2:6) (Romans 7:14-25) thus giving us a way to fulfill God's original purpose(2 Corinthians 1:20)…to live forever on earth in perfection.(Acts 17:26)(Genesis 1:28, 2:15-17) Without Jesus' sacrifice in our behalf, we'd have no hope, and 'death would rule as king' forever (Romans 5:14-17). We'd live, and we'd die, and that would be it.(Romans 6:23)
With Jesus sacrifice, we have the hope of the resurrection (Acts 24:15) (John 5:28&29)back to everlasting life in a perfect world, forever (Revelation 21:4)(Micah 4:3&4)(John 17:3)(Psalms 37:10,11,29/Matthew 5:5)and an end to death permanently (1Corinthians 15:26)(Revelation 21:3+4)(Isaiah 25:8)
Accounts differ concerning his death. Some say he died peacefully in Boeotia, and others say he was crucified with St. Andrew at Patras or at Elaea in Peloponnesus. The Bible does not record his death.
