General Service Agency
The GSA cased 1882 Carson City Morgan dollar is plentiful year, many are available in the market. MS-60 grade coins are $200.00 retail, MS-63 coins go for $250.00
The 1881-CC Morgan has the best strikes (in my opinion) of this series. Even the GSA cased examples are usually high quality
The Carson City Mint did not strike proof coins. Unfortunately many privet mints have made and sold replicas of these coins that have no collectible value at all. But you may have what are called GSA cased Morgans from the Carson City Mint that are uncirculated, not proof coins and they do have good value. Please have a collector or dealer look at the coins for a accurate evaluation.
GSA is an acronym for General Services Administration. Established in 1949, the General Services Administration, an independent agency of the United States government, was created to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies. "GSA Silver" is referred to silver dollar coins dispersed by the GSA in a series of sales limited to U.S. citizens beginning in 1972. The coins originally were discovered in the U.S. Treasury vaults in bags containing millions of these coins which had been undisturbed since the early 1900's. The sale of these silver coins made collecting Morgan Silver Dollars and Carson City Silver Dollars very popular.
