No, Muslims do not believe in reincarnation. After death, they believe that angels will come down and ask the deceased three questions. They are "Who is your Lord?", "What is your religion?", and "Who is your prophet?". If the soul of the deceased answers the three questions correctly, then, he or she will rest in peace until the Day of Judgment. If the soul of the deceased answers one of the questions incorrectly, the deceased will be tortured until the Day of Judgment. There are some exceptions if the deceased answers incorrectly. If the deceased was a young child, answering incorrectly will not lead to any torturing. If the deceased was a baby, he or she will be resting in peace without the angels asking any questions.

The Day of Judgment is the day when everyone will be brought back to life by the Will of Allah (Lord). In the day of Judgment, every human, every Jinn, and every other living thing will be questioned by Allah Himself and the good deeds and the sins will be weighed. If a person did more good deeds than sins, Allah will grant him or her to Heaven. If a person did more sins than good deeds, he or she will be sent to Hell if Allah wishes. Allah is so kind that sometimes, He will grant the person who has committed more sins than good deeds to Heaven anyways. The askings for forgiveness when the person was alive will also be taken into acount on the Day of Judgment.

Some people will interpret these events incorrectly. Note that in the Day of Judgment, every deceased person will be resurrected, not reincarnated. People will not be brought back to life as another life form but as the same life form that they were in. The Day of Judgment is also known as the Day of Resurrection, not reincarnation. Also in the Quran, it states "From the (earth) did We Create you, and into it Shall We return you, And from it shall We Bring you out once again." (The Quran, 20:55)". Some people think of this as reincarnation but actually, it means that Allah has created a human out of Earth, and Allah will return the human into the Earth (death), and Allah will revive the human. When Allah revives the human, Allah resurrects him or her when it is the Day of Judgment, not for reincarnation. All of this evidence comes to the conclusion that Muslims do not believe in reincarnation.

Muslims do not believe in after death reincarnation. Muslims believe that the purpose of life on earth is to worship God (Allah) by following God commands through Quran and prophet Muhammad teachings in parallel with doing good deeds for benefit of his family, relatives, neighbors, friends, community, and mankind. After death, Muslims believe in the last Day of Judgment where they will all be judged and then they live eternally in either paradise or hell fire, depending on their belief in the God oneness and their deeds before death.

Reincarnation, literally "to be made flesh again", is the belief that the soul, after death of the body, comes back to earth in another body. Though mainstream Islam rejects the concept of reincarnation. The Muslims believe in the Barzakh, the Barzakh is the intermediate state in which the soul of the deceased is transferred across the boundaries of the mortal realm into a kind of "cold sleep" where the soul will rest until the Qiyamah (Judgement Day). The term appears in the Qur'an Surah 23, Ayat 100.Barzakh is a sequence that happens after death, in which the soul will separate from the body. Three events make up Barzakh:
  • The separation of the soul and the body, in which the soul separates and hovers over the body.
  • Self-review of one's actions and deeds in one's life.
  • The soul rests in an interspace in which one will experience a manifestation of one's soul resulting in a cold sleep state, awaiting the Day of Judgement.

Please note that in Islam all human beings go through four steps of age:

  • The age in the womb is where the body acquires its soul. The fetus is imbued with a soul from God. The soul however, is completely innocent and totally lacking of any worldly knowledge, which is reflected by a baby's helplessness.
  • The age in the mortal world is the stage of life from the moment of birth from the womb to the moment of death.
  • The age of the grave is the stage after death in the mortal world, where the soul is stored in Barzakh (midst) which results in a cold sleep state, awaiting the Day of Judgement.
  • The age of the hereafter or rest of eternity is the final stage commencing after the Day of Judgement and all of humanity has received their judgment from God. If they were righteous and did good deeds based on their own circumstances, and were Muslim then they go to Jannah (heaven) and if they have attained little in life, and were unrighteous in their actions-or were despite all evidence shown to them, bent on denying the truth of life once it was presented to them based on their own circumstances they shall go to Jahannam (a spiritual state of suffering). This stage of life commences officially after the embodiment of Death is brought up and is slain, thus Death dies literally, and no one will ever experience or behold the concept of Death everafter. Based on the verdict received which is brought upon by each person's individual deeds, actions, and circumstances in life, the Day of Judgement on which everyone is judged with the utmost sense of justice, each human will spend this stage of life in heaven or hell (which will be a place for purification of the soul so that one realizes the wrongs committed in life). However, those in hell are eligible to go to the state of heaven after being purified by that state described as hell if they "had an atom's worth of faith in them"and the soul is repentful.

Islam holds that after someone dies that they go to Jenna (جنة) or Paradise. If the person returned to Earth after they died, they would not be able to have that experience.

More generally speaking, Muslims believe the word of the Qur'an to be the infallible word of God. If something, like reincarnation, is not mentioned at all in the Qur'an, Muslims would find no reason to believe in it.

The Muslims believe in the life hereafter. They believe that all human beings, will be raised from their slumber after death. They will gather before Almighty Allah to answer to Him about their good or bad deeds. Human beings will be sent to heaven or hell as their permanent abode. They will never die.

Simple Answer
Generally speaking, the Qur'an says that reincarnation does not exist.

Complex Answer
The Qur'an does not speak to the issue directly, i.e. it does not say "there is resurrection" or "there is no resurrection", but it is clear from Islamic theology that after the person dies, his/her soul goes to Jenna (Paradise) or Jehenna (Hell) and does not resurface until Judgment Day. However, it is not commonly believed that people will return to Earth on judgment Day. Therefore, the idea of reincarnation as proffered by Hinduism and Buddhism, where the person's soul returns to Earth in a new body to live out a new life within a relatively short time after death, is antithetical to Qur'anic teaching.
