an X on a tab, simply means to gently lay your finger over that string, to make it sound a bit distorted, or a bit muted. the sound only differs from string to string, but makes no difference where it is played (which fret). To perform it do this: Put your finger on the string, but do not add as much pressure as if you were to play that string. This is not very hard, but harder to explain than it is to perform!:)
Good luck;)
it can also be called a dead string
It can also mean you don't have to play that string
It means to mute the specific string(s) it's on. For example, in this meaningless tab:
e|---------------------------------------------
B|---------------------------------------------
G|---------------------------------------------
D|-4-4-x-x-x-x--4-4------------------------
A|-4-4-x-x-x-x--4-4------------------------
E|-2-2-x-x-x-x--2-2------------------------
You play the two power chords, and mute all three strings, E, A, and D, and strum once. You play the x's as any other note strum-wise, but don't press all the way down on the string, therefore muting it.
The O means that the string is played open - No fingers pressing it down.
The X means that the string isn't played at all.
It means to mute that string, or to not play it at all.
It means to play a chuck, or play the string while muting the note with your fretting hand.
You play it as an open note (Dont put any fingers on it when u strum but still strum it. an X means dont strum it)
it means it is muted or not played in otherwords. hope this helps - Kyse
The symbol that goes in frount of a note and looks like an X is a double sharp. It is just making the note go up two half steps instead of just one.
Basically a double sharp, you raise the note up two semitones.

No but he plays a bit of guitar and the tamborine x o x o

A B.C. Rich Pro X.
X tabs?
Yes it is compatible \X...X/
Most tabs can be closed by clicking on the X in the corner of the tab.
Sometimes guitar players get mixed up and use x to describe palm muting, but that is wrong. p.m. is palm muting. Just be aware that sometimes x mistakenly represents this. x typically means that you don't fret a string/strings, but instead muffle them with your fretting hand, and play them with your picking hand. if there are 2 x's on the low E string - you would play them twice. This creates a very rhythmic sound to go in between chords.
There is no Guitar Hero game for the original X-Box. The first Guitar Hero game was Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the X-Box 360.

You can buy them new or used at any Gamestop, EBGames, or even Best Buy. Any guitar hero guitar will work with it as long as its for the right system. For example, an X-box 360 guitar hero controller works with an X-box 360.
'x' means the particular string it is next to is not played, 'number' is at which fret to play the string the number is by, counting down from the headstock.
hold the button with the x on it until it starts to blink and its on.
There is an x on the tab. Simply place the mouse arrow on the x and left click.
X Japan.
Sadly, no. Guitar Hero 1 only came out for Playstation2. But Guitar Hero 2 and 3 are out for XBOX360
