Mark is giving us a summary time line for the official beginning of Jesus' earthly ministry, the preaching of the "gospel" [good news] of the Kingdom of God.
Jesus began to preach the good news of the Kingdom of God AFTER He "defeated Satan" in the temptation account [verse 13]... and John the Baptist's ministry came to an end [verse 14].
Verse 14 reveals that the "preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom began to be preached in Galilee." [Acts 10:37]
And verse 15 reveals the gospel [good news] Jesus preached. Not until His defeat of Satan, through the power of the scriptures, did He "qualify" to "depose Satan and his rule on earth" and become the official Sovereign "KING" to "rule the nations of the world."
He stipulates, however, that "repentance" [changing one's ways and "spiritual attitude" toward God's laws; the transgression of which is sin] is necessary to enter it. And He finishes by telling us that what He is saying is "good news"... and that we can "believe" [put our faith in] what He says.

That is a reference mark. At the bottom of the page or in the margin, there should be another ii mark that explains what it is. It could be a reference to a verse that is similar or that word that is in another verse.
It means you should find the bold number 11 in the book of the Bible referenced, and then look for the small number 11, the 11th verse.
