someone is not considered dead until a doctor or the coroner pronounces them dead. It is necessary for the question to be more specific as to what the exact issue might be; such as debts of a deceased, a beneficiary of a will/estate, wrongful death of a person, and so forth.

Euthanasia is against the law in most countries, although there are exceptions. For example, in the USA at least one State legally allows euthanasia.

Additional: Euthenasia (or Physician-Assisted Suicide, as it is known in the US) is illegal in most of the United States. However it IS legal in the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana and to a limited extent in Texas.

Currently in the United States there is no state where euthanasia is legal. The only place where euthanasia is legal is in the Netherlands. In the USA we have Physican assisted suicide, but that is only legal in Oregan and has very strict guidelines.

Improvement:

After Supreme Court's historic ruling on 7th march, 2011, Passive Euthanasia is now legal in India too.

And I heard 3 states of USA allow Physican Assisted Suicide.
