it depends what sort of nucleus you mean either and atomic nucleus plant nucleus or animal nucleus or a body cell nucleus it goes on :S

in an element The nucleus is the very dense region consisting of nucleons (protons and neutrons)

plant nucleus- The organelle controlling the life and activities of a cell is called nucleus. In plant cells it is oval in shape and is pushed towards the periphery due to presence of central vacuole.It contains DNA which is the hereditary material.
