Oxidation is the loss of one electron when the surface comes in contact with another surface or surfaces. Commonly examples of oxidation include the browning of a cut apple and rust when water stays on a metal surface for a long period of time.

Oxidizing means that the substance can react with Oxygen to form other compounds. Oxidation is an Exo-Thermic chemical reaction. It gives off heat. We see slow Oxidation in the form of RUST. We see RAPID Oxidation as Fire, or an Explosion.
