A missionary is a person sent on a mission.
It is mainly used to refer to christians who go to others to teach them about The Bible. Missionaries go to other people in obedience to Christ's command in the gospel of Matthew.

∙ 7y agoThe word 'missionary' is not in the Bible. But, what we call a missionary today was called an evangelist at that time. (Acts 21:8, 2 Timothy 4:5)
