A: TTL-DTL-RTL are family of gates called by the name. Example TTL means Tran. trans. logic. It refers to the inputs for these gates as the type.

T= Transistor

D=Diode

R=Resistor

While they do perform the same function their characteristics in performance varies greatly.

What are the advantages of transistor-transistor logic?

Transistor-transistor logic (TTL) is a class of digital circuits built from bipolar junction transistors (BJT) and resistors. It is called transistor-transistor logic because both the logic gating function and the amplifying function are done by transistors.To know about the advantages of TTL logic family, one should have a basic idea about RTL, DTL etc. Diode logic (DL) uses diodes to implement logical functions like AND and OR. But the disadvantage is that it can not perform NOT operation. As AND and OR are not complete functions by themselves, they can not perform several logic functions without NOT. Hence, there was a need for some device which can perform a NOT function as diodes can not. That device is a transistor. Then came the DTL which uses a transistor along with diodes. As a transistor can act as an inverter, NAND (NOT-AND) & NOR (NOT-OR) operations can be performed. But this logic uses several diodes which will slow down its operation. Due to the delay offered by them, the logic levels may sometimes change i. e. 0 t0 1 or 1 to 0. Then came TTL. This logic uses a multi emitter transistor, a transistor with many emitter terminals. As every emitter is nothing but a diode, this logic eliminates the use of all diodes. This is the major advantage. As transistor becomes ON and OFF much rapidly than a diode, switching time will be faster.TTL, or Transistor-transistor logic replaced resistor-transistor logic, and used much less power. The TTL family is very fast and reliable, and newer faster, less power-consuming, etc. types are always being developed.ANSWER: ONE WORD SPEED

What is meant by ttl logic?

TTL stands for "transistor-transistor logic" and consists of using BJT's ("bipolar junction transistors") to conduct the logic for the circuit.

What does applying mean?

TTL is a logic family. A logic family is the set of logic gates designed using a specific approach. Or simply speaking, logic family is the way of implementing logic. TTL stands for transistor - transistor - logic. It involves transistors (BJT) to implement logic. TTL applies means TTL logic family is used or can be applied in that specific application.

What does the prefix designation of TTL series indicate?

Transistor Transistor Logic

Why the name is Transistor-transistor logic?

TTL - transistor-transistor logic uses connections between transistors to perform logic functions, rather than connections using resistors or diodes.T - transistor input stage (logic section)T - transistor output stage (power gain section)L - logicEarlier logic families like DTL (D - diode input stage) and RTL (R - resistor input stage) used different components in the input circuit and simpler output circuits.Later logic families like IIL (Integrated Injection Logic) and CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) used entirely different circuits without separating into input (logic) and output (power gain) stages and significantly reduced power consumption, making dramatically higher levels of integration practical.

What is the application of TTL in integrated circuits?

Transistor transistor logic is one type of many different types of bipolar transistor based digital logic circuitry. It is very efficiently implemented in integrated circuit chips, needs only one power supply voltage, and operates at reasonably high speeds. Transistor transistor logic was first developed in the middle 1960s as a modification of the diode transistor logic, then in use in some digital logic integrated circuit chips but dating back to the earliest discrete bipolar transistor logic developed in the late 1950s and derived from vacuum tube point contact diode logic used in many early first generation computers. Transistor transistor logic integrated circuits dominated the computer and electronic digital controller market from the late 1960s until the middle 1980s, when metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor based microprocessors and microcontrollers began to replace it. By the early 1990s transistor transistor logic and other bipolar transistor based digital logic integrated circuits had been replaced with equivalent complementary metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor integrated circuits that were both faster and consumed less power (thus running much cooler) or with programmable logic devices of various types. In general transistor transistor logic is now considered obsolete.
