Best Answer

A nice, dry Italian red.

Lasagna is a rich, full flavored dish. Anything less than full bodied will be lost. While many people recommend matching the white cheese with a white wine it seems to me that a red will stand up better to this complex mixture of spices, beef and red tomato sauce.

My feelings lead me to a Chianti, a less expensive Italian table wine, a Cabernet Sauvinon, a bit more complex or a rich Bordeaux. Try to stay with the less sweet variants in each wine as they will be more prone to lead to hangover as well as bloating and gastric discomfort.

Well, with lasagna it should be a red wine. A good Chianti is good as long as you like a dry wine. Answer I agree. Sangiovese is the primary grape of a wine listed as Chianti, so a Sangiovese would be nice as well.

With a red sauce lasagna consider also intense southern Italian reds such as a Nero d'Avola (Sicily) or a Primitivo (Puglia). Let them breathe a little.

A white wine or rose wine would be the best pairing with seafood lasagna, depending on the sauce (Alfredo versus a blush tomato cream sauce). If you made your seafood lasagna with red sauce (which I would not personally recommend but hey, if that's what you like, go for it!) then you might want a more robust red wine to accompany your meal.

This probably depends on what kind of lasagna you're having. If it's a traditional one, with heavy red sauce and beef, you'll want a wine that is red and dry with a good amount of acid. Many of the Italian wines fit the bill here, including Chianti, Brunello, Barolo, Rosso, or a Super Tuscan. If you want to go non-traditional, you could try a Zinfandel with good acidity, an American Sangiovese (the main grape used in a lot of Italian wines), or a Grenache

Many Italian wines are a very good choice for lasagna. You should serve a dry red wine. Anything in the Sangiovese (Chianti, Brunello, Rosso) or Nebbiolo (Barolo, Barbaresco) family of Italian wine is going to be a solid choice.
