In some species, the hoverfly larvae are saprotrophs, which eat decaying plant and animal matter in the soil or in ponds and streams. In other species, the larvae are insectivores, and they prey on aphids, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects.
Milkweed Assassin bugs...saw it with my own eyes. Assassin bugs spear prey with piercing, sucking mouthparts(called a beak). They inject prey with saliva that immobilizes, and dissolves prey's internal tissues, which Assassin bugs then suck out through a tube inside their "beak". I currently have a "family" of Assassin bugs(about 8 of them) living in one of my potted flower plants on my patio. FYI...Assassin bugs are very beneficial garden bugs, and eat a wide variety of garden pest insects. Hope this helps! :)
