The correct answer is the ocean -- you know, the biome that we land-dwellers always forget. ;-) In fact, some biome lists omit the ocean biome entirely, which is really unfortunate. Ocean biomass does tend to be less dense than that of rainforests (per unit volume), but the original question seemed to be about size, not density. One could argue that it's unfair to consider all the oceans to be a single biome when terrestrial biomes are so finely subdivided, but everyone just refers to it as "the ocean biome", so there you go.

More speculatively, I recently saw a 2003 documentary which claims an even larger biome:

"With the discovery of microbes living in the vents perhaps miles below the sea floor, scientists began to consider that most of the biomass on earth might well live here beneath the volcanoes of the deep sea."

Mind you, they're not talking about the deep-sea hydrothermal vent communities that we're always hearing about. They're talking about the vast networks of underground fissures that *feed* these vents, extending deep into the Earth. So this is deeper than the deepest that we've ever explored. Anyway, I've no idea how accurate this documentary is; I can't find any corroborating sources.

a) The ecosystems that are productive in terms of biomass would be the ones that have an abundant resource supply. Some of these would be the tropical forest, coral reefs, and the bays and drowned valley where rivers meet the ocean would produce high biomass. b) The ecosystems that have the least production would involve the deserts which have a lack of water, the arctic tundra or high mountains which have very low temperatures would have low biomass. This would be because the lack of water limits the photosynthesis and the productivity slows down. Low temperatures lower the plant growth and the productivity. The open ocean has a lack of nutrients reducing the ability of algae to make use of the sunshine and the water. C) They use desert, tundra's, high mountains, grassland, scrublands, coniferous forest, temperate deciduous forest, intensive agricultures, tropical rainforest, estuaries, coral reefs, coastal zones, and open oceans.

Producers. There is a pyramid of ecology. Has producers ( Plants and trees), Primary consumers (Those animals who eat producers), Secondary consumers ( those animals which eat primary consumers) and territory consumers( predators).

In order for an ecosystem to produce a large amount of biomass, it must contain several plants and animals and have a warm, wet environment. A tropical rain forest has the most biomass.

Most of the biomass in found in the first layer called the producers. These are plants and grasses.

What is so good about biomass?

Biomass energy is a carbon fuel that produced CO2 when burned, but that is OK because the carbon is on a short-term cycle. The carbon being put into the atmosphere is carbon that was taken out of the atmosphere as a plant grew, probably a few months or years before the biomass is being burned. So although biomass produces CO2, it is CO2 that was removed from the atmosphere relatively recently, which is sustainable.

What are good things about biomass energy?

It is a renewable energy source. It is carbon neutral to produce. It uses waste, so is inexpensive to produce. It is the world's most common form of energy. It is available throughout the wold because all counrties have waste.

What energy source supplies the majority of the world's energy?

In terms of electricity, it is still coal. Overall probably oil.

What type of energy does Brazil use?

Ethanol is generally considered a renewable fuel. Brazil is the world's second largest producer of ethanol fuel (behind the United States) and the world's largest exporter. To a lesser degree, Brazil also uses biodiesel, bio-generated methane, and combustible biomass as energy sources - accounting for up to 25% of its energy needs.

What is quantum physics?

Quantum physics looks at the world of physics in terms of 'packages', or particles.Ie, gravity acts the way it does do to the behavior of the 'gravitron', which is a quantized measurement. The branch of physics that uses quantum theory to describe and predict the properties of a physical system.

Discuss how physical factors influence the productivity of the world's ecosystem?

Physical factors influence the productivity of the world's ecosystems because certain things are required for an area to be productive. Two areas where this is most obvious are the deserts, which are unable to support more than minimal life because of the lack of rainfall and the polar regions, which are too cold for the land to be productive.

Why are rivers more productive than swamps?

The water flow in rivers is too high.Rivers are less productive than swamps because swamps just like marshes have the highest primary production of all the world's ecosystems.
