Hybrid Buses?

The hybrid buses of today incorporate the normal internal
combustion engine propulsion system along with the electric
propulsion system. These hybrid buses are known for using diesel -
electric fuel are are also referred to as hybrid diesel - electric
buses. Recently studies have shown that these hybrid buses reduce
greenhouse pollution by using small amount of biodiesel (20%) and
relying more on electricity.

BMW Hybrid Models Offer Larger V8 Engines?

BMW hybrid cars have some of the largest engines on the market
to appeal to the manufacturer's luxury audience. Both the
ActiveHybrid X6 and the Active Hybrid 7 series feature BMW's Twin
Turbo V8 engine. The ActiveHybrid X6 is positioned as an everyday
vehicle using two electric motors, while the ActiveHybrid 7 series
has a single electric motor in addition to the petrol engine.

Is it profitable to generate large electric power using mechanical drive obtained from a motor using available commercial supply instead of engine using fuel?

Normally, you are better off using the large electric motor
rather than using an engine using fuel. A large electric motor
requires an extremely small amount of maintenance. When the factory
was down for one day, the boss realized that he was wrong when he
tried to save money by not spending the little extra that it would
cost to use commercial electricity. Your first task is to be up and
running all the time. Your electric motor is far more
dependable.

What does a Toyota hybrid run on?

A Toyota Hybrid vehicle requires gasoline to run. It employs a
conventional petrol engine alongside (usually) two electric motors
and a HV (High Voltage) battery. It automatically switches between
the petrol engine and the electric motors (or both simultaneously
using a hybrid transaxle) in order to create drive.

High Speed Hybrid Porsche?

Porsche's offering in hybrid cars has kept true to its sporty
specifications. The Cayenne S Hybrid claims to be able to run 1.2
miles, using only electric power. While that does not sound
impressive, it can obtain speeds of up to 86 miles per hour on
electric power. Using the combination of gas and electrical power
the Cayenne can go from 0-62 m.p.h. in 6.8 seconds. Improved gas
mileage and high performance is making the Cayenne S a powerful
competitor in the hybrid car market.
Asked in Hybrid Cars
What is the carbon foot print of hybrid cars?

That is a very difficult question to answer and even harder to
give any numbers as hybrid vehicles can have engines ranging from
4cyl to 8cyl.
Generally though, hybrid vehicles are very efficient in city
driving as applying the brakes recharges the cars electrical motor,
giving back the energy which would otherwise have been lost, as
oposed to a normal car in which applying the brakes would disipate
energy as heat effectively wasting fuel.
On the other hand highway driving with a hybrid car would be
just like any other as you are rarely braking and using the
standard engine instead of the electric motor as it is more
powerful.

Porsche Hybrid Delivers Fuel Economy and Power?

The Porsche hybrid delivers fuel economy and power. The Cayenne
S Hybrid is a SUV that boasts a six-cylinder 374-horsepower engine.
The drivetrain is fully parallel. The vehicle can operate using
electric-only, gasoline-only or a combination of gasoline and
electric power. The combustion engine engages when you drive over
36 mph. It can also operate solely on electric only at speeds over
86 mph or when the car is cruising.
Asked in Fuel Cells
Do all hybrid cars run on a fuel cell?

Most hybrid cars run on diesel and electric. Typically the
diesel engine provides the electricity for the electric motors
which turn the wheels.
Alternatively some cars set off using a combustion engine, and
then cruise using electric, until the vehicle comes to a steep
slope to climb, at which point the combustion engine steps in to
provide the necessary horse power to pull the vehicle.
Currently, no production autos use fuel cells.

Hybrid Cars Have Two Sources of Propulsion?

In addition to saving the environment, using less fossil fuels
and getting more miles to the gallon than most traditional gasoline
powered vehicles, hybrid cars have the advantage of being able to
run on either electrical power or a small gasoline-powered motor.
The electric motor kicks in when you are idling at a light or doing
a lot of stop and go driving in the city. The gasoline powered
engine takes effect when you need to reach highway speeds.
Asked in Car Batteries, Hybrid Cars
Which cars seem to be of the future Battery Solar Electric Hybrid Geothermal underground?

Let's go through these one by one.
All electric based cars will be using a battery or fuel cell.
Batteries will always be part of these cars for the forseable
future.
Solar does not currently allow for the build of a real auto and
will not for the near or mid term future.
Electric uses the above two systems.
Hybrid is a gas motor that charges the batteries. Currently
similar size gas driven cars get lose to the same gas mileage
levels. Hybrids do better in the city driving though.
Geothermal is not a possibility.
