The story first appears in 1225 as an oral poem told and retold over and over. So, the first setting is the 1200-1300's. The story evolves through time to fit the history and events that it is set in. We find Robin Hood fighting for King Richard and the dates/times change. The modern Robin Hood is usually set in or around 1300. So, the answer to your question it depends on who is telling the tale.

∙ 13y agoAs it's a legend, and quite an old one, no-one is sure of precise dating. But there are speculations, and it definitely is set in the reign of King Richard I of England "the Lionheart", who existed, and his reign only lasted a decade [1189-1199].
Whether Robin Hood was a real guy or a story is unknown, but it is thought that the character was based off a "fallen" Noble of the time.

The earliest source of information about how Robin Hood died is a ballad called 'The Death of Robin Hood." It does not give the year in which he died. In my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles i conjecture that he died in 1348, because that was the year of a plague called the Black Death, which killed hundreds of people in England. Since there is no way of knowing when Robin Hood was born, there is no way of knowing how old he was when he died; my speculation is that he was somewhere around 60, but it is only speculation.
