UM's M predates computer fonts. However, looking at the M I typed right now, it looks similar. Ask the boards admin what font is used in the answer area. It looks nothing like the questions M. Here's a better answer: Just becaise U of M was around before computers, that doesn't mean a computer font was developed. Try (True Type) TT Team MT. M
The font is an officially liscenced font of Nike inc. You could ask nike where they developed it.
It's not a font. It was made.

Michigan State University has won championships in 1979 (final featured Magic Johnson vs arry Bird & was highest rated college basketball game in TV history) & 2001. In addition to setting the record for tournament losses in a single year, (6 in 1992 && 6 in 1993) The University of Michigan did win a championship in 1989. One of these championships could have easily been cited incorrectly as University of Michigan State University. When I went to the 2005 final four in saint Louis to cheer for MSU, the score board initally read "MICHIGAN" instead of Michigan state. Horrified Spartan fans (we revile U-M with every bone in our bodies) boo'd till the idiots corrected the slight. I've also been told of a high profile prospect (I think it was Magic Johnson) who taunted U-M by declaring themselves to "The University of Michigan.... State". Now THAT'S the stuff of legend!
Ford only used the "M" designation to distinguish it from the 351 W (Windsor) and the 351C (Cleveland). The "M" designation has now become know to mean "modified" or "Michigan", even though the 351M was produced at both the Cleveland foundry and Michigan casting center.
For MSU, anywhere above a 3.3 or so. U of M is a bit higher, a 3.8 would be almost a guanrateed in! However, a GPA isn't everything! As long as you have solid test scores, EC's and courses, you should be able to get in!
I guess they figured there were already a lot of universities that use an M as their logo--Michigan among them--so they'd use a U (for University) as their logo.
No. Texas A&M is in Texas A&M University system. It is completely separate from the University of Texas system.
He does he just donated 2 million dollars to the Motts Childrens Hospital which is located on the University of Michigan campus. He loves the U of M and makes side bets with former Ohio State players and other teams we play. Just cause he does not say U of M on Monday Night football and say his high school Freemont Ross in Ohio does not mean he hates his affiliation to U of M.
