Chinchillas need to have good quality pellets (do your research not just any pellet at the pet store labeled for chinchillas is good for them), fresh timothy hay and filtered water. If the water isn't filtered they can get giardia. Just because something says it is safe for chinchillas, doesn't mean it is.

∙ 14y agoIf you are looking at it from a pet stance than I suggest feeding a chinchilla raisens, dried bananas, apples, and carrots. I also say that timothy hay is a MUST.
