Salmonella food poison can be found in things like raw meats. Such as beef, eggs, poultry, milk. Causes can be from the handling or processing of food. small animals are common carriers of salmonella. Even vegetables can carry salmonella. Ways to avoid being contaminated with salmonella are: wash hands, thoroughly cook raw meats, keep your foods seperated. (Don't use the same cutting board from your meats and cut something else on it before washing it carefully.)

Salmonella is actually a group of bacteria that can cause diarrheal illness in humans. They are microscopic living creatures that pass from the feces of people or animals to other people or other animals. There are many different kinds of Salmonellabacteria. Salmonella serotype Typhimurium and Salmonella serotype Enteritidis are the most common in the United States. Salmonella germs have been known to cause illness for over 100 years. They were discovered by an American scientist named Salmon, for whom they are named.

Contaminated foods usually look and smell normal. Contaminated foods are often of animal origin, such as beef, poultry, milk, or eggs, but any food, including vegetables, may become contaminated. Thorough cooking kills Salmonella.

It's not possible for food to poison salmonella, haha. But the food poison known as salmonella can most commonly be found in raw chicken, some eggs, and unwashed vegetables.

Be careful, and wash any surface that you've prepared these foods with, with a bleach based cleaner.

Chicken and eggs, improperly cooked, are the first things that come to mind. There have been salmonella outbreaks in the last few years associated with produce, meat, processsed foods, and pet food.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning, an infection in the small intestine. The most common sources of salmonella are reptiles (they carry the bacteria so washing hands after handling them is cirtical), and improperly prepared food (especially poultry and eggs). Recently there has been an outbreak of salmonella in ground turkey meat ( August 2011).
