Coumadin (Warfarin) is an oral anticoagulant blocking the Vitamin K dependant enzymes in the body's coagulation (clot forming) system. It is broken down (metabolized) by the liver. Its effect needs to be carefully monitored to prevent over or under anticoagulation effect. Food can change the amount of Vitamin K in the body as well as changing the speed at which the liver breaks down the medication. As long as the intake is consistent (your diet is pretty constant) there are no restrictions on food intake. However eating foods occasionally that interact with coumadin can result in dangerous swings in the degree of anticoagulation (how thin the blood is).
These foods include (but not limited to):
Dark leafy green vegtables such as kale, collard greens, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, spinach.
Liver
Green Tea
Cheddar Cheese
Cranberry juice may effect INR (measure of thinness of the blood) by an unknown mechanism.
Lovenox is an injected medication given to prevent blood clots. It does not have any food interactions although you probably should avoid other medications that affect clotting such as aspirin and non-Tylenol pain relievers while taking it.
You may be confusing it with warfarin (Coumadin), which has many drug and dietary 8interactions.
Greeny Leafy Veggies, Cranberry Juice, Alchol , Brochi, Spinish

Yes you can eat olives while taking warfarin. However it is important to be aware of the sodium content of your food when taking warfarin as it can have an effect on the bloods ability to clot. Olives are high in sodium so it is important to consider the amount of olives you are eating and to monitor your blood clotting levels regularly. It is also important to check with your doctor or pharmacist before making any changes to your diet while taking warfarin. When consuming olives while taking warfarin it is important to consider the following: Monitor your blood clotting levels regularly. Yes, you can.
yes
Yes, it doesn't affect how well warfarin works.
The recommendation is to eat a balanced diet from day to day. Eating foods high in Vit K, like sauerkraut, can increase the effect of Warfarin, thus causing an increase in bleeding which could potentially cause hemorrhage. Common places of hemorrhage that could be lethal are in your brain and stomach. The above statement is false, and needs to be removed! Foods high in vitamin K, like sauerkraut, can REDUCE the effect of Warfarin, thus increasing the risk of blood clots and a lower INR. Very few foods INCREASE the effect of Warfarin. Anyone on Warfarin (I have been for years) needs to be aware that the answer above is completely false! Foods high in vitamin K will reduce the effect of Warfarin!
