Another answer:Both answers above are partly right but slightly off. After unsuccessfully trying to save it (the "experiment with a vaccine"), Will Smith's character actually has to kill the dog himself when it becomes feral after being attacked by the diseased dogs. Smith's acting in that scene is truly outstanding.

∙ 16y agoYES! In the movie will smith risk's his life so that the woman and her son can get away to the village were it was rumered to have survivors. If you see the movie, it's a no brainer that he died, really.
