Carbon dioxide is in a very low energy state and it does not give anything off. It is in such a low energy state that it just sits there doing nothing, for ever.

Each carbon atom can be separated from the two oxygen atoms, but this requires energy. That energy can be recovered at a later date by burning the free carbon with more free oxygen from the air. That is how carbon-based fuels work.

If the gas is burning completely, it should be giving off carbon dioxide and water. Carbon monoxide is the result of incomplete combustion.

If carbon undergoes incomplete combustion the product formed is carbon monoxide.If it undergoes complete combustion then the product is carbon dioxide.

Combustion means burning. The products of combustion vary with the thing you are burning.

Normally though it will give off CO2.
