Many of the modern glues will glue plastics to wood. ( Don't try with school glue or white glue, they will appear to stick, but will come off the plastic quite easily when fully cured. ) The kind of glues that WILL do this well are any epoxy or a silicone based glue like 'Goop' or 'Seal All'. They will stick well to plastics and quite well to wood and will harden in about an hour.
It there isn't much stress between the plastic and the wood, you should be able to use wood glue to join them. However, if the plastic is extremely smooth, I doubt it will have a strong hold. I tried to use wood glue to attach plastic sheet to wood last night, and so far it is holding. But if I indent the plastic near the wood, it looks like the plastic starts to pull away from the hardened glue. In a different area I tried to use contact cement, but that didn't work well either. The plastic got quite warped, like some chemical reaction was causing it to melt slightly. Also, the cement seems to be taking a very long time to harden - I wonder if that is due to the chemical reaction too. So for light duty the wood glue will bond to plastic, but for a strong hold neither it nor the contact cement are great choices...
ANS 2 -Questions like this would be MUCH easier to answer if people stopped using loose terms like 'plastic' . -That word covers over a hundred different materials, with different properties and densities. Many plastics have many different solvents, and hence - many glues and adhesives. - Please - be specific, say polystyrene, PVC, vinyl, polypropylene, all are different plastics and need different adhesives !
either super glue or epoxy
you could also use a hot glue gun and it should stick to the wood for sure. but use super glue ok thanks for being dum
if it is a plastic model kit you can use super glue, but not wood glue.
Possibly if the wood has a very smooth surface
No, try an apoxy, super glue, or zap a gap. N
Sorry, 'strong power glue' doesn't tell us enough, -Name your glue -
Yes, you can break the bond from almost any glue.ANS 2 - NOT TRUE ! - If glue appropriate to the plastic is used properly it will almost never break on the glue joint, but close to it. - Same goes for wood glue -if I join 2 pieces of wood, you will never break it at the joint !
epoxy works for wood and metal.
No, most plastics are smooth and non-porous. For wood glue to work well it needs to soak into the materials that it's gluing. It can not do this with plastic, so will seem to stick at first, but will come loose when fully cured.
Pva wood glue
If the are plastic you'll have replace them but if they are wood, you can buy new slates and use wood glue to install.
My advice would be to use "model Master's" clear parts cement and window maker glue which goes on colorless and dries completely clear. Hope this helps.
Wood glue is better FOR GLUING WOOD than any other type of glue !
You use wood glue for sticking pieces of wood together.
