Medusa is the most well-known creature that had snakes in place of her hair, although she would not be classified in all versions of the stories as a god. She was a monster called a Gorgon, along with her sisters Stheno and Euryale. Some versions of her story have her being killed by Perseus, and the mother of Pegasus and Chrysaor.

Medusa was a mortal, not a god. She had originally had beautiful golden blond hair, but this was changed to snakes, as a curse for violating her vow of celibacy as a priestess of Athena when Poseidon seduced her.

The Gorgons all had the hair of snakes. Perhaps the best known of the Gorgons was Medusa, who was turned into a Gorgon by the goddess Athena.

Medusa the Gorgon had snakes for hair and would turn anybody who looked at her into stone.

She was once a beautiful woman but the god Poseidon fell in love with her. They met secretly in the temple of Athena but she found them and was very angry, so she turned Medusa and her two sisters into gorgons.

The Erinyes or Furies are often described as having snakes for their hair, but do not seem to be as well known for that characteristic as Medusa and the Gorgons.
