First and foremost, Hitler associated Communism (including Marxism) with Jews. Marx, as well as many Bolshevik (Russian Communist) leaders like Trotsky, Zinoviev and Kamenev, happened to be Jewish. The Bolshevik connection is important because they took control of Russia after World War I; Germany accepted many Russian refugees who fled the takeover, and some of these refugees- notably Alfred Rosenberg- became Nazi leaders alongside Hitler.

Additionally, Hitler opposed Communism's stance on class conflict and its desire to abolish private property and create an egalitarian society. Hitler was also very militaristic, and Communism tended to strongly oppose militarism and war.

The criticism Hitler had for Marxism probably was that it was not under German (His) rule so that Hitler could neither adjust nor diffuse the idea according to his plans.
