In 1980 a series of Large Earthquakes awakened the previous sleeping volcano, Mt. St Helens. A Pyroclastic eruption was caused when a huge explosion blasted out the side of the Volcano, which also caused a huge Landslide. 57 people died including local man Harry Truman who refused to leave his home at Spirit Lake, and Daniel Johnston a local Volcanologist was killed in the Ash cloud. It was one of America's biggest Earthquakes!
