Joan of Arc was convicted of heresy by a biased jury and was burned at the stake in 1431. Later, in 1456 a second trail found her innocent, and she was cleared of all charges. Joan of Arc was then beatified in 1909 and later canonized in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV.

Joan of Arc died on May 30, 1431 at the age of 19.

Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake on May 30, 1431, at the age of 19 years old.

She was found guilty of heresy at a mock trial set up by her English captors, who greatly feared and hated Joan because she had decisively defeated them in battle, humiliating them allowing Charles VII to be crowned king of France.

Joan had no legal counsel at all and even then answered most of her judges'

questions brilliantly. One of the things her judges asked her, "was she in God's

grace?" This was a quick question, because in those days, nobody really knew if they were in God's grace or not. But Joan answered, "If I am not, may He put me there. If I am, may He keep me there". Smooth answer. Iif she had said yes, she was guilty of heresy for claiming to know the will of God; if she said no, she would have condemned herself for "not" being in God's grace.

Joan was actually found guilty as a "relapsed heretic" for wearing men's clothing after she had just been forbidden to. The only reason she wore men's

clothes was to keep from being raped by her English captors, who were of the

lowest sort of people. The English wanted Joan dead, and they were going to

have their way no matter what.

May 30, l43l, at Rouen, France, the old market Stake was her execution site.
