In England civil war gave way to the emergence of a strengthened monarchy. France drove the English from Bordeaux and began to recover from a century of invasion and internal conflict, but recurring plague kept population everywhere below the peak of a century and a half earlier. Castile and Aragon combined to create a new Spanish kingdom, conquered the last Muslim state in the south and paid Christopher Columbus to sail west to Asia: he encountered the Americas instead, and others soon followed. The Portuguese did find a sea route to Asia, but by going the other way. Italy experienced the most dramatic phase of the artistic revival known as the Renaissance, which spread to Germany and France: the latter reciprocated by invading Italy. Silver finds in central Europe pumped new liquidity into a cash-starved continental economy, ending the "bullion famine" and initiating the first inflationary ripples of the subsequent "price revolution". The Ottoman Empire conquered Constantinople and extended its territory in the Balkans. Russian princes finally threw off the "Tatar yoke", resuming full independence.

What was on of the primary reasons for the spread of the bubonic plague?

The Black Death was a pandemic (an epidemic spreading over a large area) that killed millions of people. It started in Europe in 1347, and lasted until 1351. Almost one out of every three people in Europe got the disease and died. This means about 25 million people died from it in Europe alone.
