Edward and his brother were imprisoned in the Tower of London by Richard of Gloucester (Richard III). After that, it is unknown what happened to them. Contrary to popular belief, two children's skeletons found in the tower were not the king and his brother.

What years did Britain have three kings?

1066 AD I believe, Edward the Confessor, Harold Godwinson , and William the Conqueror. Also in 1483 - when the house of york was restored after the wars of the roses there were three kings; Edward IV, Edward V and Richard III. It then happened again in 1936, George V died, Edward VIII took over, but then abdicated to marry an American woman not approved of by his family and so his younger brother George VIII took the throne.

When was the last time edward v was seen?

Edward V was last seen in June 1483. After his father's death, he was taken to the Tower of London to await his coronation. However, he and his younger brother, Richard, disappeared and were likely murdered, giving rise to the mystery known as the Princes in the Tower.

What is the story of the princes in the tower?

Edward IV died and the throne to his son Edward V. Until Edward could take the throne however, Edward IV declared that his brother Richard should watch over Edward V and his brother the Duke of York. Richard, however wanted to be King and declared Edward and his brother illegitimate and declared himself King. Afterwards he sent the two Princes to the Tower and they were never seen again. It is believed that the Princes were smothered to death. In the 1600s, a box was found with the bones of two small children which are believed to be the Princes.

Who ruled England during the war of the roses?

At first the Lancastrian king Henry VI did, then Edward IV (Yorkist). After Edward was his brother Richard III. You may want to count Edward's son Edward V, but his uncle Richard took the throne from him, and young Edward V died in the tower. After Richard III was Henry Tudor, who won the battle of Bosworth Field and ended the Wars of the Roses, becoming Henry VII.

Edward V however was never officially crowned. He and his brother were the Princes in the Tower and their uncle Richard III usurped the throne. So Edward V was Edward VI's maternal great-uncle.?

If a king has the same name as a previous king, he will add the next number down to his name., however the name doesn't have to be inherited. For example the reason for why Edward VI (son of Henry the VIII) was called Edward VI, was simply becasue there have already been 5 King Edwards on the throne, and when he claimed the throne he was the 6th Edward.

Who and what is the story of the princes in the Tower of London?

Edward V son of Edward IV was taken to the tower along with his younger brother. Edward V was to be the King after Edward IVs death, but was declared illegitimate, therefore he could not be king. He and his brother were taken to the tower in fear of their safety after this news. They were under the care of their Uncle Richard Duke of Gloucester later Richard III. The princes were taken to the tower and never heard from again. The rumor is that either Richard III hired someone to smother them or Henry VII had them killed. It has never been proven who actually did it, both had reason to though. Later there were skeletons found in the tower believed to be those of the two princes.

What happened to young Richard in the Princes in the Tower?

Until any remains are found, it is most likely that we will never know the fate of either him or his brother, King Edward V. However, there is almost no doubt that they were either murdered in the Tower of London, or died there from unknown causes.
