What did Galileo reportedly say about earth when when he left his trial?

He reportedly murmured "Eppur su muove". Which means- it still moves. However, it is very likely untrue, since he was seventy years old and being a smartass with the inquisition wasn't too bright at the best of times. Good story, though.

There is a good article on this topic:

He was tried by the Inquisition, found "vehemently suspect of heresy", forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.[11][12] It was while Galileo was under house arrest that he wrote one of his finest works, Two New Sciences. Here he summarized the work he had done some forty years earlier, on the two sciences now called kinematics and strength of materials.[13][14]

I conclude that anyone challenging the authority of the Catholic church in the 17th century needed plenty of overwhelming evidence because Galieo tried it without very much evidence and got in a lot of trouble.

In 1616 February, Roman Church authorities decreed that the Copernican system was "foolish and absurd in philosophy," a declaration sent to Galileo Galilei almost immediately. GG agreed not to hold or defend this view in any way. In 1632 he published Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, in which three people discuss the merits of a geocentric and a heliocentric system. The defender of the geocentric system was name "Simplicio," and it was impossible to read the book and not conclude that GG was mocking those who held that belief.

GG was called before the Inquisition, and took an absurd defense: that his book was simply an analysis of both ideas. The judges were not fooled, and ordered GG to explicitly state that he did "abjure, curse, and detest" Copernican ideas. GG had little choice but to agree, and was placed under house arrest for the rest of his life.
