What happened to Gibbs's wife and daughter on NCIS?

Gunny Jethro Gibbs was in Kuwait, on tour, when his wife Shannon witnessed a drug deal. She and their daughter, Kelly, were put into protection from the drug dealers. They were being driven somewhere while still under protection when the driver of the car was shot in the head by a drug dealer sniper. The car crashed and Kelly and Shannon died. It was really sad!

Kelly was only 9 @ the time and Gibbs had told her he would return to see them but it ended up thru the hole of the casket.

His wife, Shannon, witnessed a crime (murder) when Gibbs was at war in operation desert storm. An agent was assigned to pretect them. He was shot while driving their van and Shannon and his daughter Kelly, who was 8 years old, were killed in the crash. Later, Agent Mike Franks left the file on the desk which contained the name of the killer in it so that Gibbs could get his revenge, which he did.

She was killed by sniper fire. The sniper's name was Ari. Ari was Ziva's half brother. Ari wanted Gibbs to suffer. He killed Kate just to make Gibs angry and upset. She also didn't like Ari, because he broke into the pathologist's, Ducky's, room and held her, Ducky and Gerald, Ducky's assitant. Gerald did get injured. Later Ziva does kill Ari to save Gibbs. Even later, Gibbs finds out that she killed Ari because her father wanted him out of the way, not to save Gibbs.

In season 2, episode 23 "Twilight" Kate was shot in the head by Ari Haswari (Ziva's half brother). After the team cleared out a warehouse and shot most of the terrorists, on the roof one of the terrorist shoots at Gibbs and Kate dives in front of him. She was wearing a bullet proof jacket and is ok. Gibbs said that the protection detail is over.

Her last words were "wow, I thought I'd die before I heard a comp..." her words are cut of as she is shot. Ari shot Kate to cause Gibbs pain and she was shot by a sniper rifle (Bravo 51) nicknamed "Kate".

Many things have happened to Gibbs in the TV Series NCIS. Some are:

a. Gibbs was involved in a face off with a Mossad/FBI Agent/Terrorist Ari Haswari during the initial 3 seasons in which either party tried to kill one another. Gibbs was eventually successful

b. Gibbs lost his wife and daughter in an accident which was caused by a Mexican Druglord. To take revenge, he had killed that person. His family members come back for revenge during season 7 and even hold him captive. During season 8, he escapes from them.

c. He got romantically involved with many women
