Why is Robin Williams famous?

He died today, police assume it was suicide and found him in his own home. From results we think it could of been but I don't think we have found out for certain what he did. Apparently he was suffering from severe depression for quite a long time and unfortunately committed suicide earlier today.

Yes, in several ways actually. His movie/film career has been a contribution of sorts. Then there are his humanitarian efforts: he is associated with the Read Now Program, getting children interested in reading, he is associated with St. Jude's, for children's cancers, he supports the yellow bracelet campaign for Lance Armstrong & his battle with cancer, he has made numerous trips overseas to entertain the troops, and has encouraged his fellow friends/comedians/actors/actresses to do the same, he rode the bicycle portion of a tri-athalon for a young man with no legs, and he financially helped Christopher Reeve with his medical bills. Robin is very private about the contributions he makes and very humble about his efforts, I am sure there are many more contributions to the community that he makes however we will never know about them....he doesn't do it for the accolades, it's just the type of person he is....if someone's in need, Robin is there, no publicity needed!
