It seems to have been exhibited a couple of times. Scrutinized by experts who unanimously denied the possibility of a Leonardo work. Most probably an 18th century work by an anonymous painter. So it lost interest and I suppose Mr Vernon still has it.
His death was of an unknown cause but the scientists of todays age believe he died of natural causes.
