OK , this is not normal. Put your thumb and index finger on the lump.If it moves freely and does not seem attached to a muscle, it's probably an incapsulated cyst, just keep an eye on it. If it's gowing , you may want the Vet to take it off. If pus or liqid comes out, it may be a sore. Kind of yellowy stuf is serous drainage .Sniff you fingers , but don't touch your nose. If it smells like a stinky old sweat sock, it's a cebaceous cyst , an impacted fatty sweat gland. These , too, are benign if not growing any more. A solid lump that seems stuck to the muscle and has no odor, and may be something serious.Vets cost a lot of money, so be realistic if it's something serious.I love all my little furry friends, but sometimes we have to make hard choices. If the hamster is really sick, don't let it suffer .

This may be a sign that your hamster has a tumor! It's quite common for dwarf hamsters to get this. Personally, I've had 3 hamsters that have gotten tumors. The first I took to the vet, and they put him down. As for the other two, I let them go on as normal animals, and it didn't seem to bother them.

The tumors on my hamsters were on the thigh/belly and the leg. They are round and normally red & furless from the hamsters scratching at them.

It could be a fatty lump, or the hamster could have bumped and hurt itself. All lumps are not cancerous. However, please take your hamster to the vet to be sure. The vet can tell by feeling the lump if it is fatty tissue. Good Luck

Ummm....YES. Look, I feel really bad for your hamster and everything but I highly doubt hamsters can under go chemotherapy...My cousin's dog has an ear tumor and he's like 20 years old. Hopefully your hamster can live with a big bump on his body too.

Usually by noticing a lump forming where one shouldn't be.

Or by the usual ways sickness shows itself among animals, loss of appetite, bad moods, more sleep, and/or other changes in behavoiur.

The first time I had a hamster that had a tumor, I took it to the vet! They gave me two options: amputate the leg or put him down. We chose put him down because to have a 3-legged hamster would cause him more suffering. When I had two other that had tumors, I didn't take them to the vet. They were fine and lived a happy, long life.

Call a vet. Depending on how old it is, you may be able to have it removed.

It could possibly be pregnant. The question is too generic.

What does it mean if a hamster has a big lump in its tummy?

If the bumps are raised, but seem like they are under the skin, it may be a tumor. Look for other signs of bad health, like not eating, or a change in normal behavior. If your hamster seems unhealthly or in pain you can take it to a local vet.
