They foul out of game ----- The player is disqualified and ordered to enjoy the rest of the game from the bench.

Collegiate and High School is 5 fouls........NBA is 6 foulsThat depends on what league you are referring too. In high school, NCAA basketball, Euro League (I believe), and FIBA Basketball, if a player receives 5 fouls, he's fouled out of the game. However in the NBA/NBA Development League (D-League), if a player receives 6 they get fouled out.

In the NBA, one has to commit 6 fouls to be disqualified from the game, so they so-called 'foul out'. In college or high school basketball one can foul out with only 5 fouls though.

User Avatar

When you get 6 fouls in any nba game you foul-out of the game and that player who received the 6 fouls has to sit on the bench for the remainder of the game. If there are only 5 players who are able to play and everybody else is either injured, inactive or has fouled-out, then if another player gets fouled-out then there would be only 4 players able to play but under the nba rule book there always has to be 5 players on the court so that last player who is supposed to foul-out has to stay in the game but other than that yes, 6 fouls in a nba game is a foul-out

2 technical fouls and 6 fouls

If the team has 6 fouls total, they're "in the penalty" meaning any foul is resulted in a free throw, to the other team. It doesn't have to be a "shooting foul" it can be a "reach in", "block", "charge", "loose-ball", and you'll still go to the line for two (or one if you committed a and-one, or three if you're fouled and at the 3-point line while shooting and you miss). And a "technical" will result in one shot. After the quarter is over the team fouls are gone, however the NBA player's fouls will still be there.

Whether the fouls occur in a half or a full game doesn't alter the outcome. In college and international rules, a player can make 5 fouls before being disqualified from the game. In the NBA and other professional leagues around the world, 6 fouls are allowed. This is due to the longer game time (48 mins as oppose to 40 mins).

A player only has up to five fouls from high school up to college, and the NBA allows six fouls before fouling out. A team; however, may foul as many times as they want, granted they have the players to do so. In my experience, only 5 fouls are allowed per basketball game. If you have 3, your coach may call a time-out and tell you to be careful. If you have 4 fouls, it is most likely that you will be taken out of the game unless there is not a large amount of time left in the game. 5 fouls are allowed in anything up to and including college. In the NBA, players are allowed 6. Five is the limit in international play.
