It's a TV show that began in 1997 and went to 2003. Also a movie and a comic book. And of course the character. Also many fiction books and a couple of Video Games, and an unfinished cartoon, and a magazine

Buffy the Vampire Slayer in my opinion is an awesome show.

anyway, it is about a girl named Buffy and she was told that she was a vampire slayer at the age of 16, she burnt down her school gym causing her to move to sunnydale high school and this is where she met the scooby gang; Rupert giles, willow rosenberg and Alexander (xander) harris. together, they fight the forces of darkness and they live on top of a hellmouth which is where weird stuff happens because it's like a gateway from hell to earth so things from hell just jump into earth and yeah.

she also falls in love with vampires, but they have souls.

There is no such show as Buffy the Vampire. However, Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a Show. It is About Buffy Summers, a Teenage Vampire Slayer. Buffy and Her Freinds Willow & Xander, Fight Vampires And Demons With The Help of The High School Librarian, Giles, and A Vampire or Two Along The Way. Hope This Helps.

---

At first glance, the show wouldn't seem that great, but within two seasons of watching (the first season is cute, but doesn't reach the epic levels of later years) it is relatively hard to return to regular tv without experiencing what I call "Buffyitis."

There are actually several ailments that make that return to non-Buffy shows so hard. People who enjoyed it primarily for the "girl power" appeal might enjoy Alias, La Femme Nikita, Veronica Mars, Tru Calling and Dollhouse (the last two starring Buffy alum Eliza Dushku, and Dollhouse created by Joss Whedon). If you're Jonesin' for some of that great sci-fi / mystical storytelling, it would seem that Lost and Heroes are a good starting point. People who miss BtVS for its clever wit and comedy might enjoy any number of straight-up comedies, of which there are too many to name. However, returning to the source doesn't hurt, so check out Firefly, Angel and Dollhouse, all of which were created by Joss Whedon. And really, those shows penned by Joss Whedon are the only ones that really put all the elements together so well. Lost might have a funny character or two, but it's not an even blend with the drama. And Veronica Mars might tell a great story and have witty characters, but you won't find the cool mystical threats, butt-kicking in every episode, or special effects. Buffy was an incredible tv show because it was a perfect blend that had never been pulled off so well, no disrespect intended.

The show is very metaphorical, very witty, and very cool. To give you an idea, Charmed is cute and fun in it's own way, but it's like an ugly inbred step-sister in comparison. Don't get me wrong - I own most seasons of that show as well. But those who have seen Btvs generally grade it on a separate scale from the rest. The closest show in my opinion is LOST, because the writing is very good, there are several unique ideas and mysteries floating around, it has it's own gimmicks which keep it endlessly interesting, and they have some commonly funny characters. I'm not saying Lost is better or worse than Buffy, but that it's the only show I can think of that can be graded on the same scale.

Buffy was the be-all end-all of tv dramedies, and practically the founder of the "category." (Drama-comedy) I know everthing about Buffy The Vampire Slayer,Sarah Michelle Gellar and all of the other Cast. From DeanAnddDangersz

well here are 7 seasons of awsomeness! its about this girl named Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Geller) and she ends up being the next generations slayer. she has a mom, Joyce Summers who later dies of a brain tumor, (Kristin Sutherland) and dad, Hank Summers, who are divorced, and a sister named Dawn Summers (Michelle Trachtenburg). there's a watcher named Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) and a good vamp. named Angel (actually Angelus and gets his own show named Angel later on) (David Boreanaz) who loses his soul and gets bad then good again and a bad vamp. named Spike (James Marsters) who later gets his soul and before this has love affairs with another evil vamp named Drusilla who is crazy becaus Angel tormented her long ago before he rechieved his soul for the first time after becoming a vamp. Buffy has met two friends at Sunnydale HIgh School after being transferred. they are Willow Rosenburg (Alisan Hannigan) who later on becomes a witch and Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendon) who always falls for the monsters except for Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) who is human.he later on is engaged to ex-demon Anya(Anyanka) (Emma Caulfield) but leaves her standing at the alter because he is afraid of their future. mid series there is another character,Riley Finn, (Marc Blucas) who is a secret soldier for a secret operativeunder the college. him and Buffy start dating after she brakes up with Angel and he runs to L.A. then they get into a fight and he runs off to fight in a secret army against monsters just like the operative. here he meets his wife Sam who is just about as good a monster fighter as Buffy and Riley. in the beginning Buffy dies and comes back at the hands of the master which calls another slayer because she tecnically died. this slayer is Kendra and she dies because of Drusilla. Then Faith (Eliza Dushku) is called and loses her watcher and becomes evil for the mayor who is indestructable and on graduation day is turned into a monster that Buffy and the gang have to destroy.in the 6th season she dies again to save her sister after a goddess from the hot place is banished and tries to find a key tha was placed in Dawn by monks and Buffy jumps into the portal instead of Dawn. she is later brought back from the dead by Willow Anya and Xander while Giles leaves back for England after he feels there is nothing left for him in Sunnydale after she died.

there is a whole bunch of other AWESOME Buffy moments and that was an out of order explination but just watch it and youll see!
