What happens on Pretty Little Liars?

Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Emily discover the existence of Ali's institutionalized twin sister Courtney, who seeks to befriend them. She later reveals that she is actually Ali; she had gone up to her room after the fight with Spencer during their seventh grade sleepover, and Billy had killed Courtney instead. After the prom, Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily go with Ali to her house in the Poconos, where it is revealed that Courtney had switched places with Ali when the girls had gone to steal Ali's time capsule flag, and had befriended them as Ali. The real Ali had also killed Courtney. Ali locks them in a room and sets the house on fire, trying to kill them in revenge for ruining her life. The girls escape and Ali is left inside. Spencer's mother and father consider getting back together. Hanna's mom moves back in and kicks Hanna's father, Kate, and Isabel out. She and Mike get back together. At the end it is hinted that Ali could still be alive

Ali had a twin sister Courtney who wanted Ali's life. So when Ali (really Courtney) became friends with aria hanna Spencer and Emily, it was really her twin sister Courtney. Courney couldn't be friends with Naomi and Riley because she didn't know anything about them. So she found out all their secerts and kept them in her diary pretending to be Ali. Ali returned home as Courtney the 7th grade sleep over and killed Courney in revenage. She also killed Ian and Jenna because Ali thought they knew about her. Courney was Mentali ill. So she was in a hospital with Iris, who was Also Hanna's hospital roomate.

The PLL's find out that Ali is Courtney and lied and pretended to be there bestie. She took them to her summer house to kill them. When they were escaping, they found Melissa (Spencer's sister) tied up with Ian's dead body. So when the fire goes on the girls escape but Ali is in there. They never find her body which they all ask. Is she alive...

The girls then start to get text messages from "A". they think that Ali is back until her body is found. The texts continue with messages with content that ONLY Ali knew so then the girls get really scared. The show continues with the girls searching for who A is and how she/he knows their EVERY move.

The four girls are not close anymore though because of an unbearable secret they share from their trip to Jamaica during spring break. All four of the girls have new secrets now but only Emily's is revealed which is that her ex-boyfriend Isaac got her pregnant. What she did with the baby is unknown but she says the baby is fine...I am assuming it was adopted but her parents do not know about it. Well Aria is still dating Noel Kahn but his family gets a new exchange student who is apparently a goddess for all boys in Rosewood and she tries to replace Aria to get to Noel. Hanna falls for a bootleg photographer and ends up having to steal money from her Dad's new campaign for Senate to pay him back. Spencer's mother is now dating someone else after she figured out Spencer's dad had an affair with Ali's mom and becomes engaged...But Spencer has a crush on her soon to be stepbrother...who might be gay. And Emily is trying too hard to get a scholarship from swimming because she had to quit for so long because of the pregnancy but her new friends Dad keeps hitting on her and ruins her new friendship. Now the unbearable secret that they all share is, In Jamaica they met a girl who they swore was Ali with plastic surgery from the fire but she called herself Tabitha! She knew way too much about all of them, that only the four would know. Tabitha asks the four girls to meet her at the top of their hotel in Jamaica and ends up almost killing Hanna by pushing her off the edge. Aria steps in and pushes her and she falls off the building and lands on the sand un-moving. When the girls go down to the sand to see if she is dead or still alive, the body is gone. They assume that it was washed away by the waves and try to act like nothing happened. But a year later there is a new -A in Rosewood who is torturing the Pretty Little Liars about their deep dark secret. In the end of the book they figure out that a body was found of a teenage girl in Jamaica by where their hotel was at. The girl was identified as a missing person by the name of Tabitha!! So Tabitha wasn't Ali (so they think) and they killed an innocent girl. But you really need to read the book if you really want to understand more about it!
